A GREEK Orthodox nunnery was turned into a marijuana plantation by two men posing as gardeners for elderly nuns, police said overnight.

Acting on a tip-off, officers raided the nunnery in the village of Filiro, near the northern port city of Thessaloniki, and found more than 30 large cannabis plants in the enclosed garden.

“Two unknown men had told the two elderly nuns in the nunnery they would like to help them with the garden and then proceeded to plant the cannabis,” a police official said.

“The nuns did not know what they were and assumed they were large decorative plants,” he said.

Police did not arrest the nuns and have launched a hunt for the culprits.

German Fined For Speeding On Wheelchair

A 54-year old German was fined with $618 after he violated the speed limit twice – on a wheelchair.

Guenther Eichmann was stopped by local police after he registered 40 mph on the speedometer on an electric wheelchair.

A former engineer, Eichmann said he modified the wheelchair’s electric engine so it could run faster.

After being stopped twice for going beyond the speed limit, Eichmann’s wheelchair was confiscated in addition to being fined.

450 kegs were taken in Dublin robbery

A man drove a truck into the brewery on Victoria Quay, Dublin 8, yesterday evening; hitched up a trailer containing 450 kegs of different beers; and drove off into Dublin’s traffic just as rush-hour got under way.

The haul contained 180 kegs of Guinness, 180 kegs of Budweiser and 90 kegs of Carlsberg and has a total value of €64,000. In the pubs, the loot would represent approximately 40,500 pints and a whopping bar tab of approximately €160,000.

The raid comes at one of the busiest times of the year for the brewery, which supplies 13,000 pubs across Ireland that are preparing for the brisk Christmas trading period.

Officers in Kevin Street Garda Station are investigating but a Garda spokesman said there was no sign of the missing truck, trailer or its driver.

Drinks company Diageo, which owns Guinness, said the raid was “very serious” and unprecedented. “We have never had a breach of this scale”, said spokeswoman Grainne Mackin. “A full investigation is taking place into what happened and how.

“There is CCTV, and all of this is being reviewed and supplied to the gardaí”. She added that on-street CCTV from the surrounding areas was also being examined.

She said the trailer was taken from an area that would normally be busy with trucks entering and exiting the St James’s Gate site.

Chinese nurses are wearing dresses made of condoms to promote safe sex.

The two nurses, from a hospital in Xiamen city, showed off their condom outfits at a public health promotion.

More than 5,000 condoms and two weeks’ work went into making the two dresses, reports People’s Daily.

“They’re a visual shock, and good to remind people of the importance of safe sex,” said a hospital spokesman.

“We tried to get her, but being the type of cat you can’t catch, she kept running and hiding,” said Doretha Cain, Tabitha’s mother. The family saw the cat several times with the jar on its head and tried in vain to catch it. But after not seeing the cat for a week, the Cains feared the worst.

“I thought she was going to die with that jar on her head,” said Tabitha Cain, 25.

They found the once chubby cat on Wednesday, too thin and weak to flee. They caught her with a fishing net and used some oil to get the jar off her head.

I know the situation for both the animal and the owners must have been terribly traumatic. But after the fact, it’s pretty funny to think about a cat running by with its head in a peanut butter jar. Yea, I’m going to hell.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Clay County woman’s family said it’s seeking justice after their loved one died shortly after being shocked 10 times with Taser guns during a confrontation with police.

In April 2006, officers with the police department said they were called to a disturbance at a home in the 400 block of Harrison Street just before 5 p.m. In a 911 call made to the Green Cove Springs, Delafield can be heard telling a dispatcher that she believed she was in danger:

Dispatcher: And what’s the problem?

Delafield: My sister is waiting on my property.

Dispatcher: Your what?

Delafield: My sister (inaudible) is on my property trying to harm me.

Officers said they arrived to find Delafield in a wheelchair, armed with two knives and a hammer. Police said the woman was swinging the weapons at family members and police. Within an hour of her call to 911, Delafield, a wheelchair-bound woman documented to have mental illness, was dead.
Family attorney Rick Alexander said Delafield’s death could have been prevented and that there are four things that jump out at him about the case.

“One, she’s in a wheelchair. Two, she’s schizophrenic. Three, they’re using a Taser on a person that’s in a wheelchair, and then four is that they tasered her 10 times for a period of like two minutes,” Alexander said.

According to a police report, one of the officers used her Taser gun nine times for a total of 160 seconds and the other officer discharged his Taser gun once for a total of no more than five seconds. A medical examiner found Delafield died from hypertensive heart disease and cited the Taser gun shock as a contributing factor, the report said. On her death certificate, the medical examiner ruled Delafield’s death a homicide.

The family said it plans to sue the Green Coves Springs Police Department now that it has all the reports regarding their loved one’s death. “We’re going to try to compensate the estate and the family and try to get justice,” Alexander said.

He said he believes the evidence weighs heavily in favor of Delafield’s family and that justice will be served. “I think that this evidence is going to show, along with some of the evidence we’ve collected outside of here, that there is no reason Emily Delafield should have died that day,” Alexander said. He said he plans to file a notice to sue sometime before the end of the year.
